Book of Jasher Audio
Recording
That fascinating
Book of Jasher is now offered on seven 2-hour audiotapes, plus a 90-minute
tape on the history of Jasher and its historic authenticity. Also available in CD format. This
mysterious book is mentioned twice in the Bible and may be the Book of the
Wars of the "Lord." Joshua 10:13
and II Samuel 1:18.
Some of the numerous
stories in Jasher include:
-
The prelude to the
Great Flood
-
The birth and
younger life of Abraham, as a young man and his encounter in the fiery
furnace, not unlike the three Hebrew children.
-
The sacrifice of
Isaac on the altar
-
The wars of the
sons of Jacob and the selling of Joseph into Egypt and how he dealt with
his brothers when they came to Egypt during the famine, how Joseph rose
to the second highest position in Egypt.
-
The story of
Moses' birth is greatly enhanced upon, plus his growing up in Pharaoh's
court, how and why he became a military king of Cush and his ten year
imprisonment by Reuel the Midianite, who later became his
Father-in-law.
-
The conquest of
Jericho and Canaan are detailed in Jasher much more than in the Bible,
since Jasher is more of a historical record.
You will find the
Book of Jasher very helpful in filling in gasps in genealogy and adding
details that are lacking in Old Testament scripture.
Josephus states,
"that by this book are to be understood certain records in some safe place
on purpose, giving an account of what happened among the Hebrews from year
to year, and called Jasher, or The Upright, on account of the
fidelity of the annals." Dr. Lightfoot thinks it is the book of the
Wars of "God," due to the various battles it recounts.
